Service Description

Do you wonder if you would be able to survive off of the land? Want to eat in a sustainable, ethical, way? Learn to catch your own dinner and feed your family or friends with bowhunting! This unique lesson combines the fundamentals of USA Archery form, equipment, and technique with additional time on topics like camouflage, tracking, and practice techniques. You will learn the basics of archery range safety, archery equipment selection, how to use proper shooting technique with correct body alignment and form, and have fun asking questions. Additional lessons cover more content from the Explorer Bowhunting program such as field dressing, habitats, and scents. EQUIPMENT / MATERIALS: All needed archery rental equipment, your choice of recurve or compound bow, ais provided for your personal use in this lesson. STUDENTS TO PROVIDE: A signed archery waiver (we provide) and close toed shoes like sneakers. If you have your own bowhunting equipment please bring it. LICENSES / PERMITS: This class does NOT include any hunting or fishing licenses or tags. Please visit https://wildlife.ca.gov/Licensing/Online-Sales and https://wildlife.ca.gov/Regulations or your local state agency (where you plan to hunt) to purchase those items from them. State law also requires a 40 pound minimum draw weight bow for bowhunting (125 draw weight on a crossbow). That is the size of bow that you will need to train up to be able to use. AGES: Ages 8+ TARGETS: Only man-made targets are used in this type of lesson for training purposes. No live or real animals are involved with this training. DISCLAIMER: You are responsible for training to become proficient in this sport. While this class offers a great intro to the sport it does not replace the amount of practice time outside of class that you will need to do in order to become reliably accurate. USA ARCHERY MEMBERSHIP: A recreational level or above membership is required on all participants for insurance purposes BEFORE registering. The cost is typically only $15 per year per person.
